The Meat Puppets were formed in 1980 outside of Pheonix, Arizona. The original lineup had brothers Curt and Cris Kirkwood on guitar/vocals and bass guitar, and Derrick Bostrom on drums. They started off with more of a punk style, but blended country and psychedelic rock for an original sound that went on to influence bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Dinosaur Jr.
